I hope each of you had a fantastic weekend! This is our final week before break. Please remember that Thursday is an early release, and there is no school on Friday. As we transition towards break, please remember that absolutely no work will be assigned over the holidays!! Monday, we will have our benchmark, and the rest of the week will be used to finish up The Great Gatsby. When we come back from break, we will use that time to review for your final exams.

Monday: Benchmarks #2. Objectives: Today students will take their second and final benchmarks of the semesters. This is to assess students in their comprehension an acquisition of skills throughout the semester, as well as get needed data to assess where they need assistance going into the final exam. Outcomes: By the end of class, all students should have taken their benchmarks. Homework: Finish reading through chapter seven of The Great Gatsby if you have not already.
Tuesday: Gatsby Quiz chapter’s five through seven, vocabulary in context, discuss chapters five through seven of The Great Gatsby, and continue reading The Great Gatsby. Objectives: Today students will be assessed on their readings of chapters five through seven, as well as discuss the key symbols, motifs, and actions of each character. Outcomes: By the end of class, all students will have read and discussed through chapter eight of The Great Gatsby. Homework: Finish reading through chapter eight of The Great Gatsby.
Wednesday: Gatsby Quiz chapter eight, finish diagramming character maps, discuss chapter eight of The Great Gatsby, and finish reading the book The Great Gatsby. Objectives: Today students will continue to add to their character maps explaining their connections, motives, and importance. Students will also finish reading the book The Great Gatsby. Outcomes: By the end of class, all students should be finished with reading The Great Gatsby. Homework: Finish reading The Great Gatsby if you have any pages remaining. Final quiz is tomorrow,
Thursday: (Early Release = Short Period) Gatsby Quiz chapter nine, finish discussing the book The Great Gatsby, and watch the ending of the film The Great Gatsby. Objectives: Today’s class will focus on students discussing the ending of The Great Gatsby, as well as giving their overall thoughts and opinions on the piece. We, as a class, will discuss the importance of the novel and why it represents the American Dream. Outcomes: By the end of class, all students will have discussed, analyzed, and critiqued The Great Gatsby.
