I hope that each of you had a wonderful weekend! Below is the proposed agenda for the week:
Monday: SSR, vocabulary packet, vocabulary review, grammar focus: verbs, begin reading The Necklace, and writing assignment: what is integrity? Outcomes: Students will think about how integrity shapes their lives, as well as see how it plays an important role in both the short term and long term. This will be added to as students begin reading The Necklace. (The Most Dangerous Game took a few extra days last week.) Homework: Finish writing assignment.
Tuesday: SSR, vocabulary review, grammar focus: verbs, review homework from the night before, and continue reading The Necklace. Outcomes: Students will continue to look at how their choices impact and shape their lives, as well as others. Homework: None.
Wednesday: SSR, verbs quiz, finish reading and discussing The Necklace, grammar focus: subject verb agreement, and writing assignment: the anatomy of a scene. Outcomes: Students will be assessed on their understanding of verbs, as well as continue reading The Necklace and thinking about how their choices affect others. Finally, students will look at how setting impacts the overall story and characters in it. Homework: None.
Thursday: SSR, vocabulary review, grammar focus: subject verb agreement, begin reading and discussing The Cask of Amontillado, and writing in journals. Outcomes: Students will review and continue to add to their understanding of grammar. They will also begin to look at actions, reactions, and motives. Homework: review for vocabulary and subject verb agreement quizzes tomorrow.
Friday: Vocabulary and subject verb agreement quiz, ssr, discuss journal writing entry from last night, finish reading The Cask of Amontillado, and discuss informational text on Poe’s inspiration. Outcomes: Students will be assessed on their understanding of vocabulary and subject verb agreement. They will also continue to look at and think about actions, reactions, and motives. Homework: none.
