I hope that each of you had a great weekend. I wanted to take a moment and tell you how proud I am of each of you as we completed A Raisin in the Sun. You each did a wonderful job! We will use the first part of this week to review our benchmarks. Then, we will begin reading To Kill a Mockingbird. I will be posting a lot of links on my website to assist you with this seminal piece of literature! Remember, we are here to grow. Growth does not happen without struggle. Remember, we only have a few weeks left.

Monday: SSR, vocabulary, finish watching A Raisin in the Sun, finish discussing A Raisin in the Sun, and begin reviewing benchmarks. Overview: Today’s class will focus on finishing up A Raisin in the Sun, as well as begin reviewing student benchmarks. Outcomes: By the end of class, students will have a deeper understanding on what they missed on their benchmarks, as well as why. Homework: None.
Tuesday: SSR, vocabulary review, grammar focus: brief review of all parts of speech, and continue reviewing benchmarks. Overview: Today’s class will focus on students continuing to review their benchmarks and make corrections. Outcomes: By the end of class, students will be refreshed on the eight parts of speech, as well as understand what they missed on their benchmark and why. Homework: Review eight parts of speech, as well as review vocabulary.
Wednesday: SSR, grammar focus: subject verb agreement, and clauses, introduction assignment for TKAM, Kahoot pooling quiz, and begin reading about the history behind TKAM. Overview: Today students will begin learning about the history and motives for TKAM. Outcomes: By the end of class, students will be more aware of the motives and cultural influences that led to the writing of TKAM. Homework: Review subject verb agreement, clauses, and vocabulary. Vocabulary quiz tomorrow.
Thursday: Vocabulary quiz, ssr, begin reading and discussing TKAM. Overview: Today students will be assessed on their understanding of vocabulary, as well as they will begin reading TKAM. Outcomes: By the end of class, students will have begun reading and discussing TKAM. Homework: Continue reading TKAM.
Friday: Teacher Workday (No Class!!)
